Years ago I collected all the miniature tea sets I could find, but I quickly found they take up a lot of space that could be used for displaying teacups and teapots. So I don't really collect the "minis" much anymore, with a few exceptions, such as this miniature Christmas tea set inspired by "A Cup of Christmas Tea," the well-known Christmas book by Tom Hegg. The plate is just under 5 inches in diameter, to give you an idea of the size.

If you happen to own any of the full-size pieces in the "Cup of Christmas Tea" line (and I do not, alas), count yourself most lucky! These are selling for some incredible prices on the secondary market these days, and I sure wish I'd been familiar with the book when it first came out in 1982 so I could have gotten in on things.

For now, though, I'm happy with my tiny tea set commemorating such a terrific bit of Christmas reading for tea lovers!
That is a really pretty miniature tea set. I have both the "Cup of Christmas Tea" books, but sadly I don't have any of the teaware in this china line.
ReplyDeleteAren't the books great? I can never get through a reading without getting tearful - they are so touching.
Angela, now that we've seen such a wonderful display of all your tea ornaments and mini set, I want to see the tree!
