Teacup organizer

The other morning I was seated at my vanity in the bathroom blowdrying my hair. I didn't have any reading material within arm's reach, so I began to notice all the stray earrings that were scattered here and there on a tole tray. I'd been looking for an earring tree to organize pierced earrings, but suddenly it dawned on me I had the perfect organizational tool right at my fingertips. I removed all the tubes of lipstick, tweezers, etc. it had been holding, and soon my organizer was ready for its new use.

I started lining them up (even the hoops I wear almost every day slide right over the rim), and I was thrilled at this discovery! The "tea" earrings I wear most often are these silver dangling ones with fish hook wires that are perfect for this type of "organizing tool."

And recently I needed gold earrings and wore these rose and teapot ones, even though they're a tad on the gaudy side. I was happy to see that posts with a "disc" style back can prop on the teacup rim as well. Do you have any interesting uses for orphaned teacups? I'd love to hear them!

  1. Good idea and much prettier than most of the earring trees I've seen in stores.

  2. Angela, I have the same silver teapot earrings as you featured;alas, one is missing and I am desperately trying to find another exact pair!
I turn my orphaned teacups into tea candles, birdfeeder/birdbaths and also have used them as party favors, filling them with jordan almonds and tying them up with tuille and ribbon. Susan T.

  3. Susan, this is where I got my earrings:

They have the exact same teapot BEAD but don't appear to have the actual earrings for sale. Maybe you could buy a bead and have a replacement earring made?

  4. It's so pretty! I could totally see placing a lace sachet filled with lavender inside the cup! :)

  5. I love that idea! I'm determined to get hole #2 pierced so I can wear my fun / cute / fave earrings along with mom's (that I never take off)...this is just more incentive!
And remember the beautiful pink platter you gave me? I use it in my bathroom to keep my counter top "stuff"... it would be so pretty with a teacup sitting on it brimming with earrings on the sides!

  6. Cute idea. My orphaned tea cups hold the following: A fake bird & nest, old pieces of soap(waiting to be melted together), loose tea bags on the shelf, tea lights, and a small plant on the back porch. Oh, yeah, occassionally bird seed.
