Some of the items in this issue were just so fun to read about, like collections of vintage hair appliances, umbrellas, and—dear to my heart as a former 4-H'er—4-H memorabilia. But of course my primary collecting interests reside with all things related to dishes and teatime, so I was pleased to spot this pretty array of china plates.
And look at these lovely butter pats!
I'd recently written about how I've decided to start collecting butter pats, and to my surprise and delight, a thoughtful blog reader in Virginia, Patricia, mailed me two charming vintage butter pats with pink roses on them. How perfect!
Just curious: Do you collect anything outside of the tea wares world? Or know someone with an unusual collecting passion? I (and my characters) would sure love to hear about it!
I have some other collections - angels, books, fabric (I am afraid I've collected more than I've sewn recently!). I'm looking forward to reading your new book!
ReplyDeleteBesides Hall tea pots and tea cups, I also collect teddy bears, cabbage patch kids, dishes, Christmas houses, books, fabric(I quilt), etc.....the standing joke around here is that only thing I have one of is a husband and a son. LOL!
ReplyDeleteI’ve had collections over the years. Now I’m downsizing. I still have milk glass and handkerchiefs which also need to be smaller collections.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed your posts.
That DOES look like a fun special issue of "Country Living"! The photo of the floral -patterned china plates is nice--I see my favorite, Wedgwood's Wild Strawberry. Your new butter pats are cute! One non-tea-thing that I collect is china egg cups. I do use them to eat soft-boiled eggs from, and they look so pretty on one's breakfast table.
ReplyDeleteI collect dolls, some I have since I was very small. Books, books and more books I add to at every birthday and holiday. Pens, pencils and many other writing supplies.

I collect wood burning stoves. The first one came from my aunt’s house, then I found others along the way. I think we have about 11. I also collect bride and groom cake toppers. I owned a business renting tuxedos. One Saturday afternoon after prom and wedding tuxedos had all been picked up, I went to the antique mall nearby, and found a 2” bride and groom. My collection has grown to about 70 different ones, some military from the 40s and 50s, some that are salt and pepper shakers, and some before and after.
ReplyDeleteLongaberger, milk glass, love vintage kitchen, and more! Cute butter pats!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your second cozy mystery series.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun thing to collect. The china I have in my cupboard has china pats. I have always been fascinated by them. Unusual collections maybe my basket of bookmarks.
ReplyDeleteHi! I love this addition of Flea Market Finds and I am so in love with the French blue butter pat at the top of the page with the pat of butter on it, I would love to find it or at least find a name and/or maker. Any chance you might know??
