Thanks to samples from tea companies and gifts of tea from thoughtful friends, I rarely am actually in "need" of any new tea. And yet ...
When I'm innocently passing by the grocery store aisle and I see signs advertising new flavors of Lipton herbal tea on sale for $1.99, well, who can resist? Especially when it's an intriguing-sounding blend of pineapple (which I love) and chamomile (a much lesser love).
I do like their nice pyramid-shaped tea bags and how they let the leaf expand. When I first opened the box, I sniffed way more "chamomile" than "pineapple" and thought "Oh, dear." I'm happy to report, though, that the brewing really brings out the pineapple flavor and scent, so now there is a chamomile tea I actually like!
Camomile is funny... we have a 'relaxing tea' blend (all herbal) that includes camomile, and I enjoy it, but we recently served Coronation Tea (to celebrate the Queen) and it is a black tea with camomile undertones that I found to be too strong for me. So, it's always a 'taste test' kinda thing as far as camomile for me! This one sounds like a nice caffeine free summer blend!
ReplyDeleteYou are one brave tea taster!
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous cup! I think even camomile tea would taste good in a cup like that. The tea sounds it would be more to my liking as an iced tea.It does sound intriguing.
ReplyDeleteI've tried this tea as well but I didn't like it very much. I love chamomile & the pineapple flavor was too strong for me.
ReplyDeleteI do love this brand though. I really like the way the bags are made & my favorite is the black tea.
One of my favorite china patterns! I always wanted that set when it was sold in Victoria magazine but with 4 little kids to raise, it seemed too extravagant. I just came across the ad in an old Vic magazine and it was costly. I hope to add some piece by piece. I think the yellow makes it perfect for your pineapple camomile. I think it might make a nice iced tea too.

I'm not a fan on chamomile, but I sure love your yellow chintz teacup! It's beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI chuckled at your "innocently" passing the grocery aisle. No matter how few things I need to buy, I always make a trip down the tea aisle.
ReplyDeleteI don't care for chamomile, but I do like pineapple. I may have to try it. I can always share with my daughters & daughters-in-law.
Thanks for the posting
What an interesting combination... I'm not sure I could be so brave. Thanks for the 'taste test'! :-) Have a happy day!
ReplyDeleteI'm with you on the chamomile, but do drink Tazo Calm when I need calming in an evening. This does sound curious and intriguing. Love the cup, I have that one too.
ReplyDeleteSounds interesting. I go through phases of liking Chamomile. Right now it is on the bottom.
ReplyDeleteI have never heard of this tea before. I think it's really an interesting blend of flavours. I wouldn't have ever guessed that pineapple and camomile could taste good together.
ReplyDeleteI also tend to pass down the aisle and browse for new tea flavours. My favourite currently is jasmine green tea
Hello Angela, I love pineapple so I will try this tea - thanks for the review. And yes, that teacup is beautiful! Joanie
ReplyDeleteSomehow I would never have thought of pineapple as a tea taste but it does sound intriguing. Glad to know the pineapple flavor was brought out by the brewing process. I'll have to look for this on my next shopping foray.
