End-of-summer morning glories

Don't know where they came from, or how they managed to take over the back-of-the-house rose border I have neglected since June, but I sure do love these beautiful blue morning glories I discovered this week! I suspected (and quickly had confirmed) that they don't make very good cut flowers, but I couldn't help myself. I thought they would be a perfect match for this blue chintz teapot, and indeed they are. The morning glory is such a classic -- and classy -- old-fashioned flower. I don't mind their takeover at all!

And that's all I've got for today, friends, since I'm getting ready for a great Labor Day weekend. Hope all of you have a fun-filled and *safe* time!

  6. Lovely photos. Growing up we had quite a few wild morning glories, but I haven't seen any in years.

  7. Gorgeous photos Angela! I love the teapot, chintz is one of my favorite styles, any color, any pattern, I love it all. Morning Glory's were the very first flower I ever planted, they're so beautiful and so temporary... gotta love them before they've gone...
Hope you've had a great summer! Are you ready for the fall?

  8. Have a great Labor Day weekend. The morning glories were worth picking even for the moments to get the beautiful picture. I love blue morning glories, but they seem to do better in other parts of the country. I don't see them often here and when I planted them they didn't grow much. They are so beautiful, but then I love seeing any blue flower.

  9. Oooh, how pretty! I love morning glories! And they do look fantastic in your chinz teapot!!! Too bad they do not make good cut flowers. Can you imagine how lovely those would look in a wedding bouquet... if only...

  10. Perfect pairing with that teapot! That color is indeed heavenly blue! And, oh while they do last, they are fantastic! I read once somewhere that if you quickly singe the end of the tender stalk, just after cutting, they will endure longer. Might give it a try. (I read it in regards to poppies.)

    Happy Labor Day!
