Last week I was pleasantly surprised to receive an e-mail from someone who works for artist Susan Branch. She asked if they could send me "a little bag of Susan's Special Blend tea" as a thank-you for my blog posts about Susan over the years. "Are you kidding me?" I thought. I should probably be sending Susan a thank-you gift and not the other way around, but I'm no dummy so I said sure, I'd love to try the tea!
It arrived in this charming tin featuring Susan's artwork of a stack of teacups. (I always love artwork of stacks of teacups, don't you?)
Even the lid of the tin is cute!
When I opened the tin, I found this brown bag with a sticker reading "Susan Branch Private Blend, A Fine Romance, Lavender & Roses Earl Grey Tea." I was already inhaling the delightful scent of roses and lavender when ...
I opened the bag and saw how pretty this blend is! I couldn't help wondering if its taste would live up to its looks, and I'm happy to report that it did. I've had Earl Grey with lavender before but never one with both lavender and roses. Would it be too perfumey? I'm happy to say it was not, and the bergamot in the Earl Grey is definitely the flavor I found most pronounced. It was such a delicious tea to enjoy on a rainy afternoon, and I can see why it's Susan's favorite. Happily, I looked online and found that this same tin and tea are available on her website, and you can find them here along with other great tea items from someone who is a beloved artist for so many of us!
I have debated about ordering some of this tea, it does sound good. I'm glad to get this review. And I LOVE the tin! It is on my wish list for sure.
ReplyDeleteHow nice! The tea looks wonderful and the tin is too cute. Susan hits a home run again and glad she shared it with you!
ReplyDeleteI have had the pleasure of drinking this tea with a dear friend who has since moved to Florida. Pony is 'addicted' to this blend!
ReplyDeleteShe, as well as myself, is a Susan Branch fan.

What better way to get your product out there than to have it spread by word of mouth. You answered any questions I would have about the flavour and I love pretty tea tins. Now, I'll have to see if they ship to Canada.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for the post! I went right to Susan's web site and am going to order some for myself and for my best friend!!! I work in a British tearoom and will share some of the tea at work with my coworkers!
ReplyDeleteWarm regards!

I'm so glad that they've stuck with loose leaf! It's beautiful.
ReplyDeleteOh boy, aren't you the luckiest one! I have been wanting to order the tea and the tin. On my wish list.

Thanks, Ruthie (formerly of Lady B's)
Don't you just love everything Susan Branch does? I remember first seeing her artwork when she did an illustration for a pumpkin pie recipe in Country Living. Then while I was working in a quilt shop I enjoyed her adorable fabrics. I love her blog--it's just like talking to a dear friend. I've been lucky enough to find quite a few of her books at estate sales and thrift stores. Now I just have to try her tea!
ReplyDeleteI love Susan's blog & never miss a post. It's one of my top favorites.
ReplyDeleteI just love Susan Branch and her heart is just beautiful. So glad you enjoyed her special gift to you. I must order mine today! ♥
ReplyDeleteI have enjoyed Susan from her very first book! I can see that you two would be the perfect tea friends! Enjoyable! So happy she reached out to you -- love your blog!
ReplyDeleteBeen a Susan Branch fan for a long, long time. Ordered some of this tea myself not to long ago and LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it.
ReplyDeleteHow interesting! I was just looking at Susan's website last night, reading about her tea offerings and wondering yet again if I should give them a try. Of course, being a tin collector I'd have to buy the tin. I ended up not buying the tea last night but did change my wallpaper to her sea scene. Guess I'll have to go back and order some tea now for sure.
ReplyDeleteThank you for this lovely post about your sweet gift of Susan's tea. This special blend is my very favorite EVER. Warning*....once your readers try it, they will be spoiled....and hooked! :)
ReplyDeleteHello Angela, great post today!
ReplyDeleteSo glad to hear that the tea does not taste too perfumy. And the tin, how beautiful. Thanks for the review, Joanie

How I would love this treat. I have been curious about this tea and wondered if it was good. I don't normally drink Earl Grey, but this one is tempting.
ReplyDeleteWhat a real treasure! Love the artwork on the tin.
ReplyDeleteHaving discovered you through yesterday's link posted at F.O.S.B., I must tell you that I've since been perusing your previous posts with much delight. I'm a Kentucky native currently living in southern Alabama, so your visits to my old stomping grounds are particularly nostalgic to me. Would you believe I lived in Lexington nine years without once stepping foot inside the Green Tree? Your post makes me really regret that! Anyway, I'm now on your email list and looking forward to future posts while I continue catching up on the past. Really enjoying the tearoom postcards as well. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteWhat an adorable tin!
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like a lovely tea and it's pretty too!
