In search of missing pieces

What do you do when you're missing a creamer? You substitute a cute Santa Claus tea figurine (thank you, Linda!), that's what! He's filling in admirably, I think, in light of the missing piece that I was unsuccessful at locating in 2016, so I'm hoping for better luck with the search in 2017.

Last year I bought this Christmas chintz teapot and two-tiered serving tray at a T.J. Maxx, and after I blogged about it, my friend Joy thoughtfully located three dessert plates and the sugar bowl for me—on clearance! As you can see, my table setting is a plate, four teacups, and one creamer short of completion. When I started seriously looking for the missing pieces in the fall, I was very surprised to find I could not locate the missing plate at any price, anywhere. Not even at Replacements.com, which told me that there must not be many of these out there! I could buy the sugar and creamer as a set, but I don't *need* another sugar bowl, so … I'm holding out.

What do you think about mixing this Christmas chintz pattern? When my dad gave me money to buy my Christmas gifts from him this year, I bought two of these pretty teacups when I found them at Marshalls, and I'm thinking they could blend well. Or would you just mix and match with four different patterns of Christmas teacup? No rush, though. I won't be putting these out again for another year!

  1. I saw this on Ebay-it looks like the same pattern although not a creamer. Maybe you will have luck there?

  2. I am pretty sure it is a recent make...what is the maker's mark? Trying to remember when I first saw it...made in China I think. But they are out there...patience! I know you will find it? But in the meantime, the Santa substitute is darling!
    Merry Christmas!

  3. What I would most certainly do? Buy the set and use the sugar bowl as a base for a cute squat wonderful floral arrangement. Or send to me and I'd be delighted to make it a permanent silk floral arrangement for you. Just keep the lid as a back-up or I could try and sell it on ebay for you - or YOU start to sell on ebay. It's addictive and fun in cases such as these.

    That is my solution.

As for Linda and that adorable creamer- how cute is THAT???? Sweet gift - aren't tea friends just the very best ?!!?

Lovely set, Angela - I know layering those beautiful plates from Joy and filling the tablescape out nicely will make a remarkable holiday table setting! : - )

    1. Maxine, I just checked the box, and it is called "Cup of Christmas Cheer" by Jim Shore, made in 2011 for Enesco. Good luck!

  8. I looked for more of the poinsettia pieces this week at the Home Goods store where I found those last year, but no luck. I love those teacups and would certainly mix them. And the Jim Shore figurine is adorable.
