The Home Inspirations pottery at Jo-Ann was 30 percent off last time I was there (still is, according to the website), which made this pretty green teacup planter a really nice find.
Although lately I've been mad about miniature African violets grown in teacups, I also have one regular size violet, but it hasn't bloomed in more than a year. The leaves seem nice and healthy, so I decided to repot it in the new planter and see how it fares. This piece is about 4 inches tall and 5-1/2 inches in diameter.
Helpfully, this planter has drainage holes, which is a must since violets don't like soggy bottoms. (Who does, really?) And there are also large size teacup planters at Jo-Ann (regular price $19.99) that are big enough to contain several herbs or a small rose. I didn't get one, but now it has occurred to me that a larger one sure would be pretty out on the deck. Maybe a return visit is in order?
That teacup planter is really cute. I like the small size and that it is a solid color (such a pretty pale green).
ReplyDeleteLove your teacup planters, Angela! A few years ago, I found some ivory-colored ceramic teapots at a local dollar store. My wonderful husband drilled a hole in the bottom of each teapot and I used them as planters on my deck for several years -- usually with moss roses planted in them. Only one remains (weather takes its toll), so now I am on the lookout for new ones. B-)
ReplyDeleteAh I had bought this a while ago with my coupon. I love it and will fill it with herbs. I had posted it on my blog as well. Enjoy your cup!
ReplyDeleteLove it!
ReplyDeleteVery nice! Nice color and texture.
ReplyDeleteI've got a striped one that I love.
Definitely a return trip is in order. Love the violet in the teacup. It will be so pretty.
ReplyDeleteLove your photos - the plant looks so good in that cup! 'The many shades of green' sure are pretty - and a sign that spring can't be too far away! And for that matter, St. Patrick's Day is close too!
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend,
Joanie
Well how cute that is! What a great hostess giftie this would make! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteWhat a pretty planter. I hope it's just want your violet needs to bloom. Let us know if it blooms.
ReplyDeleteI love it! Very pretty color too. Can't wait to see it after you get a bloom- keep us up to date on it. You're a brave soul to have violets of either kind.
ReplyDeleteHi Angela~
ReplyDeleteI've seen this little planter everytime I'm at JoAnns, I keep telling myself, walk away, walk away... but I think I might grab it the next time I'm there with one of my handy-dandy 50% off coupons. I'd like to try my hand at African Violets again, yours are so pret-tea!
That one is just too cute. They would make cute centerpieces for a table or a wedding with a "tea party theme."
ReplyDeleteI'm partial to the bright colors and patterns myself. What gardener can resist them?
