A prodigal teacup comes home

In a way I have you to thank for today's post, dear readers! You see, I was actually in What's in Store two days ago simply because I needed a few more goodies for the seven days of Valentine's giveaways I am planning next week. I want you to have some good tea stuff to win, and I just had a feeling I would find something different at one of my favorite local thrift/antique shops. I found that soup bowl and saucer I mentioned yesterday, some unique vintage goodies that will be part of the giveaway stash, and I was on my way out of the store when my eyes fell on this pink rose teacup and saucer set. No. It couldn't be ... No way ...

Oh, but it was! Some of you longtime readers may (vaguely) remember that I found three teacups and saucers in this exact same design at an estate sale last fall. (See them here, if you're interested.) At the time I remember thinking that if there were two blue ones and one yellow one, you just know there had to be a fourth pair originally in the set. I just couldn't imagine my good luck in finding that pink set, marked Napco and numbered just like the others, right here in the same town where I got the other three. I even compared the cups and backstamps when I got home to be sure, though I was already quite certain these were matching pieces, and now a set of four!

Now what are the chances of such a find ever happening again? Are these pieces "original family members," I wonder, and if so how did they get separated in the first place? Oh, if teacups could talk ...

  1. What's In Store sounds like a real treasure trove of a store (is that the one we visited?). The teacups are really pretty and how wonderful to add to a set. I think the footed teacups are ultra feminine and tea party perfect.

  4. Sometimes I think God creates little "divine appointments" for no other reason than to bring us joy. They won't solve the big world's problems, but in our little corners, these minor blessings are huge. How fitting for you to "accidently" discover this lovely treasure, Angela---- I just know tea will be even tastier from such a sweet cup! B-)

  5. Oh, Angela! How wonderful. Isn't it exciting to find missing pieces? That's like the time I found the matching silverware that completed my set completely. It was like they were from the same set too. And I found them here in Newnan as well.
Oh, you know, it was probably the angels seeing you doing something nice for everyone else and wanting to give you something in return.
