Roses for fall

Many of us like to use teawares in seasonal colors, and fall can present a challenge. There simply aren't a lot of soft, pretty teawares in earth tones of gold, brown and orange. But as I was arranging some things in a cabinet in my kitchen this week, I realized a cup and saucer set I have always categorized as "pink" is really not.

These colors aren't pink at all, are they? It was only as I removed them from a pink stack that I saw these pieces anew, and suddenly it was as if someone had just handed me a new fall teacup and saucer! (Have you ever had that happen? Looked at something you already owned in a new way?)

The pattern is Royal Albert's Centennial Rose, and this set was a Christmas gift from my husband not long after we were married. I loved it then, but I love it even more now that I'm seeing it in the light of fall. (That applies to him too, by the way!)

  2. Love your last thought. So sweet! I have the same with my hubby. I also have this teacup and many others in the same shape that all look "happy" together.

  3. Yes, it is really hard to find Autumn colored teacups. When I do I love it. Love that you recall where you got it too. I forget after a few years where many of mine came from unless I place the gift card next to it in my china hutch. :)

  4. If anyone is interested, I found a lovely Autumn teacup with the month NOVEMBER on it for only $6.99 + s/h. Can't wait for it to arrive for my pen pals birthday!

  5. I was so happy when I finally found a couple of autumn teacups at one of our antique stores. I agree that the roses on your teacup are well suited to the season.

  7. Very pretty. Have you seen the the orange and yellow variation of Old County Roses? It's called Pacific Rose and it's hard to find.

  8. What a pretty teacup. Definitely can be for fall. I have been using a transferware cup with a turkey on it for this month. It is so fun to find cups to sip our tea from for different seasons.
