Today, I'd like to share a bit of serendipity with you. First, this new teacup was a recent yard sale find from my mom. I often go home and hear her say, "I've got a teacup for you in there on the counter," but this was the first time it was a Mary Engelbreit tin teacup. Cool!
Not quite sure what I'll use this for, but I'm thinking perhaps it will contain sewing supplies when I pick up my needle again this fall.
Interestingly, a friend recently passed along some old copies of Mary Engelbreit's Home Companion magazine, now (sadly) out of print, and I was looking through this August/September issue from 2003 when I found ...
... an article about the artist Harriete Estel Berman, whose pieces include tin teapots and teacups! How much do I love her work? Let me count the ways! I love her designs, I love her color choices, and I love that she has a website where we can drool over even more of her fascinating work. Enjoy!
What a great find. I was thinking candies inside but sewing notions or anything at all would make this a treasure to display. I know I've said this before but your mom is the best!

What a fun cup. I think it is a great idea to use it for sewing items...a tape measure, a seam ripper, etc would fit perfectly.
ReplyDeleteYour mom must have the most fun scouting out, stumbling across, gleefully acquiring "goodies".
What an adorable tin teacup - and perfect for small sewing notions.
ReplyDeleteLucky you to have a mom looking for teacups of all sorts!
ReplyDeleteWhen my granddaughter was born I bought a tin tea set for our tea times together. It will stay with me... but I will be buying her her own set soon too. She is 2.5 now, so I think by her birthday she'll be ready for her own tea set. :D
ReplyDeleteLove these moments of serendipity! Did you know that Ceylon was once called the "Isle of Serendip?"
ReplyDeleteThat is the cutest little thing! A sewing kit would be perfect!♥♫
ReplyDeleteWonder if you can make it safety pins n needles for the cup and some type of removable pin cushion on top some how?
ReplyDeleteIt's really cute.
Enjoyed the link... out of my price-range, alas.
ReplyDeleteAnother great tea find! Between you and your mom, you get the best, fun things! Miss Mary's magazine.

ReplyDeleteI have that same little cup, Angela! I adore it, and just like yours will soon, mine holds little sewing doodads :)
ReplyDeleteHow neat. I've never seen these before.
ReplyDeleteSo cute! Your mom finds great things for you. I will be checking out that artist's website, too.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great teacup! And as mentioned by others, you have the Best Mom. Thanks for providing the link - the video of how she made the cups is so interesting. Joanie
