Have a cup (or bottle) of Charitea!

I'm a sucker for unique packaging and a clever name. This bottled tea I found at Whole Foods succeeded on both counts and came home with me. I think the elegant oval shape of the glass bottle is what sealed the deal!

Argo Tea is a name I'd not heard before (have any of you?), and I definitely think it needs to be on my tea radar. This Charitea blend is flavored with hibiscus flowers, red cherries and vanilla. The flavor is tart but not too tart, and I was impressed that the hibiscus, cherry and vanilla flavors are all there, yet so intertwined you wouldn't notice it unless you were thinking (or blogging!) about the flavors.

The company says it supports organizations which champion women, wellness, the environment and the arts. I scanned the list of some of their recent efforts and was impressed with their work. It's actually one of the more interesting tea company websites I've seen in a while, and you can find it at argotea.com.

  2. I hadn't heard of Argo Tea either. The Charitea sounds good. They have some interesting teaware on their website. Although contemporary is not my favorite style, I really liked the generous sized Moon teapot and Samba mugs.

Their charity work is impressive and the new cafe would be fun to visit. Thanks for bringing Argo Tea to our attention.

  4. I've been to two Argo tea cafes in Chicago where they brew tea from leaves. They're casual places like Starbucks or Carabou Coffee shops. It's been a few years now, but I remember the selection of teas being excellent, and I bought a couple of small bags of loose tea to brew at home.

  5. Fascinating and haven't heard of this company. When I started Marmalady's I wanted to donate a portion to charity, but never made any money until this year. Maybe I should think that now. This is giving me ideas.

  8. Hi Angela,

Yes, I have heard of Argo. They have several fun locations in New York. I was so surprised to find one planted right in the lobby of the NYU Hospital. I was so excited! I had a very good green tea muffin with a chai tea. What a great place to promote healthy tea!

I will check out the new drinks the next time I'm in NY.

    Thanks for sharing!

    Blessings, Darlene
