Have you ever left something at a store and thought, "Sheesh, why didn't I buy that when I had the chance?" That's what I thought when I left this "Cup of Christmas Tea" teapot at a local antique mall over the summer. Actually, there were two of them, and they were very reasonably priced, but it was summer, for heaven's sake, and I didn't feel like buying a Christmas teapot in the summer.
So, I went back after Thanksgiving. There were no longer two, but there was one, and so I got it. And for $8, I thought this was quite the bargain!
This is the backstamp, which tells me this teapot is nearly 20 years old. It will no doubt be part of the decor at the Christmas tea party I'm hosting this weekend. The very day I bought the teapot, at another antique mall I actually found the matching cup and saucer set, but it was $21 and I decided I'd wait for a better price. Have you read the book "A Cup of Christmas Tea" which inspired this lovely line of teawares?
