For more than 20 years now, I've been using the Johnson Brothers Rose Chintz dishes that my late grandmother gave me, and I still absolutely love this pattern. So I was especially delighted to see it get the spotlight in the new issue of Tea Time magazine in a feature called "Coming Up Roses."
I really enjoy how they will show a pattern and mix it up in some unusual new ways, including formal and casual settings. I wouldn't have thought of pairing my JBRC with Jadeite as they did, and I don't own any Jadeite, but their idea did prompt me to check out how a green glass plate might pair with this pattern. Interesting!
The cover photo this time is from a feature on a tea with vintage china, an idea I wholeheartedly endorse! This issue is hitting me at just the right time, as I'm currently planning a tea for 25 or so local widows near the first of March — and I really want it to be lovely. Some friends in my Sunday School class are assisting as well, and I can't wait to see how this tea all comes together!
I love Rose Chintz! And I enjoy mixing vintage China with Depression glass. The tea you're planning sounds like a really sweet idea and I'm sure everything will be beautiful.
ReplyDeleteRose Chintz is a favourite pattern of mine. My Auntie used them when I was growing up so I fell in love with this girly pattern at an early age. I now have all of hers and I adore them still. Your tea sounds lovely and I'm sure it will be a lovely event enjoyed by all. Have a beautiful day.

I only have a trio set in Rose Chintz, and I think it's a lovely pattern. Knowing you, the tea party will be perfect in every way and the ladies will have a great time. I'm looking forward to seeing the newest issue of Tea Time!

ReplyDeleteWhen the magazine arrived in my mailbox before Valentines Day, I wasn't ready to think about spring tea parties, but the unusually warm temperatures and blooms have set the mood. Your green glass plate is outstanding with the Johnson Brothers Rose Chintz.
ReplyDeleteRose chintz to me is blogging sister and fellow Canadian Sandi so I'm happy you have the same pattern. It's pretty and feminine and was nice to see in the new issue. I switched to a digital subscription and it has worked out pretty well so far.
