Loaning teawares

Do you ever loan your teawares? I do, and the few times I've been asked to do so, I've felt very comfortable loaning them and never had so much as a smudge happen to them. Over the weekend, a friend asked if I had two teapots I might be willing to loan her to decorate tables at a business women's luncheon next week. Of course I could spare two, I said, and because it's spring, I decided I definitely needed to send the more floral ones. I narrowed it down to these four, which I'm planning to drop by her office today.

Here are some details of the patterns on the four I selected. I think most of you understand when I say I get so much enjoyment from the pretty designs on my teawares. Is it crazy to say this is my favorite form of artwork?

And here are the four contenders in their chorus line, just waiting to see who gets selected at the audition. Number three is my current favorite of this group, so I'm curious which two will be chosen for the luncheon!

  2. I love that you "share the love" of tea wares and loan them out. I have never been asked - other than to HOST the whole dang thing, haha. And bring everything too. : - )

Let us know. I think you chose well, Grasshopper. ;-)

Sorry I have been absent, been working a lot - and you know how that goes....get so behind on blog reading. Oh, and did I tell you it snowed again this week? Seriously? With Easter nearly here? What the HECK!

  3. Your "Spring" teapots are very pretty. I've never been asked to loan any of my tea things out, but I was asked to loan out some of my aprons. One of the aprons was a white linen "bib" apron trimmed with battenberg lace that was a gift to me. I got it back with blue permanent marker ink stains on it with no mention of how it happened. Based on that experience, I'd have to think twice before loaning my things out again.

  4. You are not alone...teawares are a great source of joy! Beauty can always be appreciated...no matter how utilitarian...that was a middle and upper class Victorian worldview....whilst ignoring the plight of the less blessed....My favorite is a motto for my business..."Have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful” William Morris, 1834-1896 ...whose birthday was day before yesterday, by the way!

I have often loaned tea things for church teas....never had a problem!

  5. I loaned family vintage aprons and one was not returned. I loaned white tablecloths to a good friend, and they were returned permanently stained. I'm not sure I would loan my English teapots because they are no longer being produced.

  6. I think some of us have so much, we could start a business at this! ;-) But as Linda says, there is loss in the process.

  7. You are so kind Angela. Your teapot spring collection is colorful & pretty! I have loaed my teapots for someone hosting a tea - and my shamrock theme teapot was broken with no offer to replace it either. Can you imagine? I would definitely would try to replace if not with the same - a similar one. I will definitely think twice next time!

  8. You are very generous to loan your teawares. They are all beautiful. The first one is my favorite. How many teapots do you have.

  9. Very pretty. It is nice of you to share your tea wares with your friend. I'm sure the table will be pretty, no matter who wins the audition.

  11. So nice of you to offer your teapots. I too loaned some out to a friend for a party. Fortunately I didn't give her my very special ones because one came back with a huge chip, with no mention of it.

  13. Loving them all. Right now I am partial to roses, but that could change tomorrow. Oh how fickle.
I know her table will be beautiful with which ever teapots she chooses.
