Hmmm... #4 is curious. Do you think it is making a play on words for applesauce ... OR ... today I was reading in a James Beard book that "sass" is an old New England word for preserves - so maybe it is using the word in that way? So curious - and so surprising to see that word for a second time today!
That "sass" was a curious one to me, too, and I must confess I have no idea what that means! That is VERY interesting about the old word for "preserves." I'm glad you read this today so you could share it!
