Tea trolley in yellow

When I was at Something Special last week and saw their cute tea trolley, it reminded me that I had not yet decorated mine for April, and time was fading fast! This year, I wanted to see if I could pull together a few yellow things that were not my Royal Winton Welbeck pattern dishes, which I love but have featured for the past few years. It was time for something different. So even though I don't have that many yellow things (yellow not being a color I decorate with very often), I was able to gather enough for a small vignette.

This yellow tole tray was something my mom found for me years ago, back when I was into collecting tole trays but not paying the high prices they were commanding at the time. I don't think she paid more than about $3 for one.

This little teapot vase is something I found in an antique mall years ago. I've never seen one quite like it, and it's perhaps the sweetest little vase I've ever seen.

This Tea Shop cookie jar has a little yellow on it, so I decided it could go.

Underneath it all is a vintage tea-themed embroidered tabecloth. The sides have a teacup, teapot, sugar and creamer embroidered on them.

And the tablecloth also has an "M" embroidered on it, so when I found this on eBay, I definitely had to have it.

Who kept their yellow tin of Harney Royal Wedding Tea when Will and Kate got married? I'll bet I'm not the only one!

And I've saved the best for last, something that's not yellow but is part of the display anyway. It's an amazing little floral gift I recently received from sweet tea friend Michele. After all my woes about trying to cook the perfect hardboiled egg, she finally just sent me this one—of bone china—filled with carnations! Now, I can't seem to send a greeting card these days without it getting mangled in the mail, but she wrapped this super fragile piece so carefully, it arrived in perfect shape.

"Hand Made Radnor Bone China, Staffordshire, England." Have you ever seen a porcelain egg vase before? I never had, and I'm so happy to have this adorable piece gracing my tea trolley!

  1. The touches of yellow mixed with other spring colors make a bright and cheery tea table. That egg vase is really cute! I save all my Harney tins so far - if I'd known about Harney teas at the time of the Royal Wedding, I'm sure I would have saved this one. It's perfect for this vignette.

  2. Your April tea trolley is lovely. Yellow is perfect for spring, and everything in the vignette represents spring very well. The teapot is pretty, and the bone china porcelain egg was a very thoughtful gift. Spring is still trying to decide whether it wants to come to Michigan, but the cheerful daffodils are blooming so we're hopeful.

  3. That egg vase is beautiful. Lucky you!
Yellow has always been a fond color for me. I chose it as my favorite when I was young because
all the other little girls were choosing pink and I just had to be different. It is a happy color. Oh and
    I adore that tole tray.

  4. Beautiful tea trolley! Unlike most homes, mine doesn't have any yellow or red. The only yellow teaset I have is Royal Winton Sophie Chintz. But lately, I seem to be attracted to teacups with yellow roses! I will have to look for a china egg vase, so cute and unusual.

  6. Very pretty, Angela - it all looks so good together. You are so creative! Those trays are especially nice. Your Mom sure could find the treasures, couldn't she? They photograph so nicely. I enjoy seeing your tea trolley. Joanie
