How do *you* stir your tea?

Ever heard of "fluid mechanics"? I certainly had not, so when a friend sent me this video, I wanted to share it with you.

I had honestly never thought about the efficiency of stirring my tea in a circle, but next time I'm stirring milk, sugar, or what have you into my tea, I'll go for "some crazy pattern" instead of a circular one!

  1. I’d never heard of it either, and I stir in a circle usually - I’ll have to try a figure 8!

  2. Ha ha, that's an amusing video! I''ve never heard of "fluid mechanics," either. But I don't WANT my tea to "taste more mathematical," as the narrator says, so I will continue to stir it in my favorite circular motion!

  3. My grandson (who at 17 yrs. of age is capable of stirring his own drinks) likes me to stir his powdered chai mix. He says I can do it quicker & better. I use more of a fast dipping motion to mix the powder.

    1. Can you describe your "fast dipping motion" for me? Is it just a quick up-and-down, a vertical-only action? I'm quite a nerd about this now that I know "fluid mechanics" is a thing! I'm wondering what you do that is different from what your grandson would do.

    2. My grandson just circles the cup. I stir from bottom to top around while going from the back of the cup to the front of the cup. It seems to suck the powder down better.
