Tea in Nazareth, 1940

Tea in Nazareth? Yes, that’s what I discovered this week while digging through the old photo archives on the Library of Congress website!

This photo's very long title is “Galilee trip. Nazareth, afternoon fete in aid of the Red Cross & Knights of St. John. Tea, group in garden taking tea, District Officer Mr. Wadie Issawi in centre.”

The photo was taken on July 11, 1940, and I love everything about it. Be sure to check out the clothing of the women in the background!

  2. So many questions about the people and the times in that photo!! But whatever is going on, one always needs to have a cup of tea to settle one's self down. You really DO find such interesting photos from that Library of Congress website!
