The first gardenias of the season have arrived, with the same beauty and intoxicating scent I have always loved.
Also beginning to bloom: classic (and classy) blue hydrangeas. I know there are all sorts of varieties and colors, but for once I don't want pink. I want my hydrangeas blue.
Is it too gruesome to call this the "skeletal remains" of a last-year's hydrangea? But what beauty in the lacy petals that still remain, like vintage butterfly wings. (Double click to see more detail.)
Add a few of the last yellow roses of the season and ...
... plop them all in a Wedgwood tea tin. The FTD folks have nothing to fear from me, and yet -- I am pleased.
I LOVE it. Casual arrangements from your own yard are the best. I have an Annabelle hydrangea covered in blooms and they are in vases all over my house but now some are going to be in a Tea Tin !!
ReplyDeleteI think the FTD folks might be a little concerned! The combination you gathered is gorgeous! I wish we could grow Gardenias outdoors here!
ReplyDelete:)
Who needs FTD when you can gather such a beautiful floral arrangement from your own yard. The Wedgwood tin as a vase is perfect.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful flowers. I would take your arrangement over any FTD arrangement.
ReplyDeleteSeeing your post today is like dejavoo (spelling???)
ReplyDeleteI took pictures of my blue hydrangea & my gardenias just this morning to post this week- so now I'll just admire yours instead. (LOL)
Love the flowers and they are beautiful in the tea tin. Now gardenias is one flower we don't have here in Oregon. I wish we did as the scent is intoxicating.
ReplyDeleteI would buy yours over FTD!
ReplyDeleteJust lovely! The tin too!
ReplyDeleteNow, correct me if I'm wrong, but I heard that if you give your hydrangeas tea with their water they will be blue? I'm trying it, so I'll keep you posted :)
absolutely darling arrangement and the tin is just perfect for it! beautiful!! hugs :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful arrangement! Don't you just LOVE the fragrance of gardenias? I have two bushes blooming close to the frontdoor, so that the aroma can waft out to visitors coming up the walkway. Our 2 hydrangea plants on the shady side of the house keep getting bigger and bigger each year. I've heard that if you give them some fertilizer that will make the soil more acidic, the following flowers will be blue rather than pink.
ReplyDeleteThis is so pretty and easy to create!
ReplyDeleteAll those flowers are really beautiful.!! I too like to buy them from FTD.
