Fun (and almost-free) tea finds from T.J.!

So I had a $10 gift certificate to use at T.J. Maxx, and when my Aunt Jane and I went shopping over the weekend, I used it to buy a new teacup and tea towel. I went *slightly* over my certificate amount by choosing a $5.99 teacup and a $4.99 tea towel, but I was quite pleased with my almost-free purchases!

The tea towel is so colorful and springy. (And yes, I know there are actually two of them here, but I'm sure I don't have to tell you which one I favor!) I hung it on my oven door in the kitchen as soon as I got home. I am so over thinking I am going to save the best for last or later. I'm now using the newest/best/favorite tea towels. I am now sipping the favorite "Downton Abbey" tea instead of saving it for last. (My current favorite, BTW, is the Butler's Pantry blend with Carson and Mrs. Hughes on the tin. I am quite addicted to the honey flavor!)

One of my kinda-sorta decorating goals is to fill my tiered teacup stand with four turquoise teacups. I had only one before Saturday, but when I saw this one, I decided the color was perfect. The pattern is called Adelaide Turquoise, and it's from 222 Fifth, whatever that is, made in Indonesia. I also decided I enjoy drinking a very large cup of tea out of this oversized teacup. So, did you all find any new tea goodies over the weekend? Please share!

  1. I want to go shopping with you! I'll have to get to TJ Maxx and see what's there, but I hardly ever find the good stuff that you do. Shucks!

  2. The teacup is beautiful and the towel is adorable! I didn't purchase anything thing this past weekend but I did find some sweet Portmeirion teaspoons last weekend at HomeGoods. I am also enjoying a pot of Sakura Allure tea from Teavana. Delicious! I agree with using and enjoying your best things. I do, too!

  3. The house we're renting in Florida next month has a TJ just down the street so I hope it's a good one with lots of bargains. I love the new teacup, so far I have 2 in this colour hue and it pairs well with lavender.
I ordered some tea themed embroidered dish towels on the weekend from a gal in the US I met through my blog.

  4. Beautiful! I love turquoise. I am not saving anything for "good", either. I have gotten rid of my old flatware and I am using the sterling set my grandmother left me. I am enjoying it so much!

  5. What a cute tea towel! Good for you for using them. I'm a believer in that. And the turquoise teacupis so you! Good luck in finding two more, they'll be so pretty on your stand. Fun shopping!

  6. Very pretty teacup and towel! I'm still bad about "saving" my favorite or best things, but I'm slowly coming around. I recently found the cutest tea jar. It's white with navy blue writing and says "Where There's Tea, There's Hope" and "Darjeeling Tea". I found it at the Paul Michael store which I think are only in Texas, Arkansas, and Louisiana. It's made by Creative Co-op. Surprisingly enough, I have never tried Darjeeling Tea, so it looks like I need to get some very soon.

  7. Very lovely finds! I too am always saving the best. We need a twelve step program to help us use our pretties and not feel guilty! Glad to know I am not alone. Cheers, Frances

  8. Love your new tea things, Angela! 222 Fifth is an awesome modern china manufacturer - whenever I see it when I am out looking for things to fill my online store for sales, if I am lucky enough to find at a good price I scarf them up because 222 Fifth ALWAYS sells.

I have seen that teacup = so unique - and because it is modern it is much more hardy, so you may use and not worry too much - sometimes those extra old delicate ones are lovely but much safer as display items! They don't like to be used too roughly that's for sure!

Funny twice today I have read about the DA teas. I wanted to try, but haven't yet. Good to know which one you like best. Thank you. Hugs.

  9. A real blue beauty! I always have a smile whenever I see a teacup towel - it is the "little" things that make me so happy! I too - enjoy - all our treasures - "live life to the full" (Daisy Mae Belle) love her blog too! I didn't find one tea treasure - but still enjoy the Hunt!

  11. I totally agree with your "Life is uncertain. Eat dessert first" philosophy.

Our Winners/HomeSense stores carry 222 Fifth chinawares, including the pretty Adelaide Turquoise design, but I haven't seen the teacups.

At the local Target (did you hear that Target Canada is closing shop up here after only 2 years?), I saw a tea towel (by Threshold?) featuring cups hanging on saucer...but your tea towel is much cuter!

  13. Hello Angela, what beautiful finds! The teacup is a great design. Anytime you're ready to start 'Angela's Gifts,' I will be your first customer.*

*Speaking of shopping...Cracker Barrel has a very cute white (lacelike) teapot lamp. Adorable! It's in a section called Grandma's kitchen and there are some other tea and coffee themed items. My email is down but I wanted to share the news with you. Hope you have a chance to go over there. Joanie
