Interestingly enough, I told my youngest daughter last week, while we were making our annual fudge for gifting, that the one thing I missed about Christmas was getting a new doll. My dolls were always ones that could be played with, and yes, I do remember Dancerina. In fact, she's sitting on top of my cabinet in my sewing room right now. I also have Giggles, who can still giggle; Velvet and Mia, whose hair can still grow; and the Barbies I got when I was about 3 as well as all the clothes my grandmother made for them. I'm fortunate to have a few other dolls too, and we did have tea parties occasionally. I have the set of dishes I used as well. Hadn't thought of them for quite some time though. Yes, I loved my dolls and still do. But I did have one memorable doll, which my aunt and uncle from California brought to me one year. It was a "Betsy Wetsy" baby doll, and as its name implies, it would drink and wet. So I did a lot of diaper-changing! I even bought small containers of baby powder to use on her, so she would smell like a real baby. My Betsy Wetsy did NOT come to my tea parties--babies are too young for that!Vernona in DChttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08309168590955782420noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2167015610970367792.post-92080028731143408032018-12-14T15:10:22.726-05:002018-12-14T15:10:22.726-05:00I still have two of the dolls of my childhood...a ...I still have two of the dolls of my childhood...a walking doll and a ballerina. We spent many hours together and drank countless cups of pretend tea. I do remember getting a "bride doll" one year for Christmas, she was beautifully dressed and I sat her on a table in my room. She was about twice the size of the American Girl dolls children love today. Didn't play with her much but I loved to look at her.Joyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14183723445145517680noreply@blogger.com
