Tea Time Magazine — September/October 2014

It happens every year. I start getting that fall itch, that sudden desire for cooler weather and spice-flavored teas, and then the fall issue of Tea Time arrives and I am in full-fledged fall mode. The new issue arrived this week, and that pretty cover with Pumpkin Mousse Tartlets has me hankering for fall.

What I loved most about this issue, perhaps, was a pattern of teapot and teacup I'd never seen before, this Royal Crown Derby "Royal Antoinette" set. I was totally smitten by those ruffles on the teapot and the saucer. Aren't they gorgeous? It would only be about $1,000 for a teapot and four cups and saucers, so if any of you have been wondering what to get me for Christmas … well, I am nothing if not helpful!

OK, we all know that's a fantasy, but it's not a fantasy to think that I'd like to make these Orange Macarons with Dark Chocolate Buttercream filling! I've made pastel macarons a few times before, but it hadn't really occurred to me to try fall-hued macarons, and these sound delicious. Are you looking forward to fall as much as I am?

  1. I can hardly wait for fall. Love the idea of fall themed macaroons. I promise if I win the lottery, I will buy the teapot set for you! Of course, in order to win, I guess I have to buy a lottery ticket and I don't often do that! Thanks for sharing the photos.

  3. Lovely! I am about an hour to two hours north of you and we are feeling the fall weather! I had my first macaroon in June and I can't get over it. It was the best non homemade dessert ever. Those orange ones with the brown butter cream are perfect for a fall tea!

  4. I read my issue of TT in one sitting- why do I do that?! I can't stop myself from turning to the next page as fast as I can read it, then before I know it, I'm finished!!!

  5. I am disappointed that my TT magazine is not delivered to Canada until @ 2 weeks after you gals receive yours. :-(
The orange macarons look stunning with the pumpkins and I only ever think of them in pastel colours as well. I love fall and look forward to bringing out my decorations.
If you get that teapot and cups for Christmas, it would be worth the drive to your house for tea!

  6. My TT magazine arrived Saturday but I'm holding out on reading it until the kids go back to school next week. I want to enjoy reading it with a nice cup of tea and no interruptions. I keep staring at the cover though. Love fall dessert recipes-can't resist anything with pumpkin!

  7. Fall is absolutely my favorite season. I love the rich colors and decorating with vintage Halloween decorations, then Thanksgiving. I'm thinking about making those Pumpkin Mousse Tartlets when my quilt group comes in October.

  10. Today was the first day that we noticed a touch of fall in the air - I've been waiting for this for about six weeks already LOL Thanks for making the day even better with the photographs! And we don't see Tea-Time magazine in our magazine racks here in Canada for a while after you do - I wonder if subscribers here see theirs earlier?

We are for sure in the dog days of August in Texas (Dallas) now and I am DEFINITELY looking forward to fall!

  12. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
I am still in summer mode here. I was disappointed in the magazine just because it was trying to get me in Fall mode. Not yet! I will look at it in another month. I did like the macaron idea though. They made it sound rather easy.

  13. Looks like a good issue, Angela. I am so looking forward to fall!

That teapot is so pretty, you have great taste in tea items. (I mentioned in an earlier post about the qvc decorative pumpkins - they look so neat! They are very tall but they have a slim base: they had four different finishes, including burlap, basket-weave and scroll work designs and they are lit from within with led lights. I haven't bought any yet but I'm very tempted...)

Hope you have a nice weekend and a great fall season, Joanie
