A tea for bedtime

Lipton sent me a box of their caffeine free Bedtime Story tea a while back, and I finally got around to trying it. I sure liked the name!

The Bedtime Story Herbal Tea is made with spearmint leaves and chamomile flowers. Now I've had mixed experiences with chamomile teas, since some of them have had a tiny bit of a bitter taste to them.

This one, I'm happy to say, was a perfectly pleasant chamomile and spearmint blend, and all I could think as I sipped along was what a "soft" taste this tea had, with no bitter edges. Caffeine at bedtime has never bothered me, but I certainly don't mind opting out of the caffeine altogether, and Bedtime Story is a tasty way to do precisely that!

  2. That does sound like a pleasant bedtime tea.

Your cup and saucer is one of my favorite teacup patterns - very pretty.

  4. I love chamomile tea. I drink it pretty much every night but you are right about brands. There is a difference between brands & some of them don't even taste like chamomile to me. My very favorite it Harney & Sons but it's fairly expensive to drink every day. For every day I drink Celestial Seasonings. I usually use two Chamomile bags & one decaf black tea bag to get my favorite blend.

I'm also trying to grow my own chamomile this year - we'll see how that goes!

  6. I love all the ingredients so I will look for this one. Presently, I use sleepy-time tea at bed-time. I'm always happy to try a new tea. Deb

  7. Thank you for the referral, Angela! Always nice to learn these things - I have never liked cham tea, so perhaps willing to try again.

I have REALLY bad insomnia and have never been able to "risk" drinking much by way of evening tea (gasp, sad I know,) but this one may do the trick.

Appreciate it and Lipton for sending! : - )

  8. Complete was remiss in my above post to share gleefully my adoration for that incredible beautiful teacup in the photo.

    It is stunning.

  9. I will definitely look for that! Many of them have other ingredients...some of which, like valerian, I am allergic to. But this looks perfect! I am a longtime Celestial Seasonings Sleepytime fan, but it will be nice to try something new!

  10. A very clever name! I can't drink chamomile (it's in the ragweed - allergies - family). But I always dream of drinking chamomile!

  13. Surprising to see the teabag design. It looks like the Harney and Sons teabags. I believe those larger triangular bags are designed so they can use longer tea leaves in them. I remember hearing something like that and I know you would know. Will have to try them. I love chamomile. Reminds me of Peter Rabbit with his upset tummy.
I love your vintage cup too with the delicate pink roses. No wonder they copied the pattern.
