What is this?

Today, I need your help. I have a simple question, and I'd greatly appreciate it if some of you would simply answer this question: What is the item in the picture?

It will be a great help to me if you could be as specific as possible. And tonight, I'll explain why I've asked and what I was trying to find out.

Thank you in advance!

UPDATE: OK, your answers have been very helpful! Here's the deal: I saw this three-tiered server in a catalog about a year or so ago and meant to order it but never did. $35 I didn't need to part with and all that. But then I found this at HomeGoods over the weekend, marked $24.99 and then half off that thanks to their Christmas clearance. I immediately saw the Christmas tree shape, but both my mom and my husband said they did not notice that at first, and they would use it for any tea purpose. So, I was just trying to figure out if it said "Christmas" to you as it did me, and the consensus is yes, it does. Also, I should mention that this is supposed to have a star on top, but hey, for $12.50, I can certainly live with my bargain serving piece as-is. I think it can be a serving piece for teatime but I also like your ideas about using it for fruit, cookies, ornaments and more. It's nice to have a headstart on decorations for *next* Christmas!

  1. I would guess either a holiday plant stand, or some type of buffet server for holding dinner, salad, and dessert plates, or 3 sizes of baskets to hold rolls or cookies. It's very nice and looks large - where did you get it?

  2. Well, at first I saw a 3-tiered stand for holding plates of treats...like a tea party 3-tier. Then I saw the big picture and found it to be a tree, too!

  3. If I had to guess I would say a holiday fruit display in the shape of a Christmas Tree.

  4. Hmmm, the circles looked like they dip in the middle so perhaps a small dish with cookies or other treats/sandwiches can be place in it. The wires on the edges look like you can twine or weave-in ivy leaves, or flowers to create a beautiful stand.

  5. I'd say the item in discussion is anything you want it to be! While it looks like a holiday decoration--being in the shape of a Christmas tree--it could hold fruit, plates of tea sandwiches and baked goods, or it would also look pretty filled with beautiful Christmas ornaments. The sky's the limit!

You put fruit in it - probably artificial- except it is shaped like a tree that makes it Christmasy- I would put round metalic ornaments
in it and other greenery, etc

  8. I would use this pie plate holder any time of the year, for serving any time of food. Too pretty to leave hidden. When not in use for a gathering, I would use this to display napkins, rolled up hand towels in the bathroom. Hey trees are year round.
